Max’s Gym is based in Oakland, where we train in the sports of powerlifting, weightlifting and supertotal. We are a family gym with a friendly atmosphere.

Team Training

Team Training is for athletes planning to compete in weightlifting, powerlifting, or supertotal. Participants are expected to be proficient in the lifts and follow a club program under a certified coach's supervision.

4 days a week
Monday/Wednesday/Friday 6 - 8 pm

Women's Strong School

Women's Strong School is geared towards women getting stronger and leaner, building confidence and improving their general health! We focus on the powerlifting movements, plus core strengthening and other accessory work specific to each individual woman.
3 days a week
Tuesday/Thursday 5:15 - 6:45 pm
Saturday 9 am - 10: 30 am

Weightlifting Technique Class

Improve your technique and strength within this course focusing on the snatch and clean and jerk plus squats, pulls and accessory movements. Max's Gym coaches will give you the instruction you need to improve your weightlifting.

Class space is limited.

Youth Weightlifting Club

Youth Weightlifting Club is an ongoing program for kids ages 9 to 17 to learn the sport of Olympic-style weightlifting under the supervision of USAW certified coaches in a fun and safe environment. This program focuses on the clean and jerk, snatch, squats, pulls, and accessory movements.

Weightlifting Foundations

Weightlifting Foundations is a 6-week course designed to help beginner and intermediate weightlifters improve all aspects of their lifting including technique, strength, and approach. Participants can expect to come away with a newfound confidence in their lifting.

Monday/Wednesday 4:15 - 5:45 pm

On-ramp Program

On-ramp provides small-group personal coaching sessions to get prospective athletes comfortable with foundational movements used in weightlifting and powerlifting. Other aspects related to your workout such as proper warm-up, stretching, and recovery will also be discussed during class.
